Victor Boniface of Union Saint Gilloise has been named UEFA Europa League Player of the Week.
Boniface won the award ahead of Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes, Roma’s Paulo Dybala, and Bayer Leverkusen center-back Edmond Tapsoba.
The 22-year-old scored twice in Union Saint Gilloise’s 3-3 draw with Union Berlin in the Belgian Pro League on Thursday night.
On Friday, UEFA announced the award winner as a Nigerian striker on its official Twitter account.
“Victor Boniface has been named #UEL Player of the Week!” reads a tweet on the UEFA website.
This season, he has five goals in the competition.
